I have been on Truvada for 3 years. While it has dramatically increased my t-cells and lowered my viral load it has also left me with disintegrated hip joints, a condition called AVN or avascular necrosis. What I thought was a bad case of arthritis turned out to be AVN through a simple x-ray. I just had my right hip joint replaced and will have my left one done in a few months. Catch 22....the "cure" vs. "side effects".
I have been on truvada and reyataz as a combo once a day without a booster and been in the undetectable range for 6 years and was in the 9000 range viral lode wich isnt that high but my cd4 is 900 and viral lode like I said undetectable and this is my 6th year on the same combo so fda or not the drug works and at nominal side affects on the other hand I have had freinds get deathly ill taking atripla so thats experience not fda

3 months ago, my id specialist changed me from combivir/sustiva (6+ years)to truvada/sustiva to reduce my triglycerides after a stroke. Now my trigycerides have been cut in half, but I'm told my kidneys are failing, due to the truvada. Don't know what next.
