Hemophilia's late wife

I've been positive for almost 23 years. Team driving with husband for 9+yrs. My late husband died from complications to his hemophilia due to infected plasma in the early 80s. My present husband is negative. Our income is such that we don't qualify for extra help. We have to be company drivers to get health insurance to help pay for my meds. I learned that I must continuously keep health insurance; pre-existing clauses can take 1-2 yrs before benefits pay.

I got a feeling for those people and what they had to say big time . I know of what they spoke of about getting meds and being able to take them on time beacuse as the long time partner of a trucker I have ridden with him on occasion and had to always have my meds plus extras to ensure that I had enough to make the week or so long trip worth the companies while . I was diagnosed as poz back in 1986 and then with aids in 2001 to which my partner lost his job ( more to come later ) .

Rambling, lacked a central idea, and did not correct Anderson's stat about trucker mortalities (3,000), even though the article itself offered a different one (96) if you just calculate it. Initial premise, "federal indifference [leads to] truckers' HIV" was not proven.

Very good article! I am not a driver but I worked closely with drivers for all most 10 yrs in food distribution. I have been poz for 15 yrs. It seems like there should be enough volunteers across the country in each state, that are trustworthy enough to be able to get meds and meet the drivers at the truck stops. Thier jobs are stressful enough without having to worry about adherance. Stress is the last thing any of us needs. I'll be the first to volunteer in Western Mass

Good column! People, gay or straight, poz or not, have not a clue were there favorite must have comes from or how it got there. Let alone the driver of the truck they gave the middle finger to because the truck was in there way to starbucks. What was forgotten in the column, truck companys what to save money,so cheap health insurance is a must, and the driver pays more for drugs and co/pay,I had a my hrs cut, without notice, and I could not afford my hiv drugs, after 6yrs of use,I lost,& no help.
