It varies from person to person on whether they should take meds. I haven't taken hiv meds for 17 years. Ironic, cirrhosis from hcv is taking me down quicker than hiv. I still have CD4s of over 500 but my liver is not doing as well. I hope you do well over the holidays. It's not easy, I lost my dad in 1989 during the Christmas season. Just try and be around friends and Don't be by yourself if you can help it! Choose to fight the depression and be well.

When you stopped your meds, was your doctor informed or was he told after the fact? It's your decision to make, but your HIV specialist should always be kept informed and preferably you should discuss your desires/decisions with them in advanced. I also think it is very strange that your therapist would recommend that you stop HIV treatment! Are they really in a position to make such a recommendation? That is very dangerous! Your therapist should be helping you evaluate why you are choosing to make a high risk decision, rather than recommending that you take that route!
