“...parting is such sweet sorrow.”

While “researching” my last blog, I pulled up an article about Mepron. According to the data, Mepron could be stopped if the CD4 was above 200...really? I was secretly excited, since this was my most expensive medication, but I knew I should review this with my doctor. I’m pretty anal regarding my meds, but I don’t keep my T-cell count on an Excel chart (Peter Staley,) my CD4 was definitely above 200 for a while. My doc was a little skeptical, and started reviewing my numbers for the past year. He’s way old school, no computer, and has everything from charts to blood tests in a tatter folder. My doc confirmed after, what I thought was a short period of time , that the lowest my CD4 was in a over a year was 374...HURRAY! Unfortunately, my doctor wasn’t as electrified as I was, he’s obviously not my accountant. Primarily, my doctor visit was to nurse a sinus infection for something of the sort. In the past (when I had private insurance,) my choice of antibiotic was Levaquin, but being in the early stages of my ?doughnut hole? I insisted on a generic. I left with a prescription for a six day dose of azithromycin, whatever works, that what I say!

Still Life with Mepron
David Capogna, photographer

The liquid has no taste what so ever, but it’s a bitch if it spills. Don’t ever get it on a piece of clothing. I usually take a dose in the nude before showering. You have to brush, floss, and Waterpik it out of your month, otherwise it remain leaving Mepron lip-prints all other the place.

The deletion of Mepron from my meds list will mostly affect my wallet, but this also means I’m progressively getting better. I was diagnosed with PCP in 1996 (at 25 years old,) and instructed that I MUST remained on meds for the rest of my life...with seems like an eternity. Thirteen year later and I’m Mepron free. The AIDS meds are definitely getting better, and AIDS is still a very ?young? disease. Listen, I’m know there will be other AIDS related symptoms or diseases that might affect me, but I can’t let this control my existent. I intentionally titles the blog ?adieu...? rather that ?au revior,? the more casual phrase literally meaning ?see you later,? simply because I have HOPE.

Au revior,
