A good lawyer would have to give advice on this but the following approach may fall within the ambit of voter education conducted in a non-biased manner. Highlight the highest priority issues (a long shopping list alienates). Send questionaires to candidates and publish their responses and or non-responses along with any relevant history of comments/actions, with absolutely no editorialising. The lack of an editorial summing up the candidates' positions or the non-profit's position would still inform voters, and allow voters who care to make their vote count.
