When guilt is stronger than fear. A phone call in'85. The Red Cross., something is wrong with your blood donation, come to the hospital for some tests? My boyfriend Mitch was ill. The 4th time having pheneumonia and only in his mid 20's. He passed slowly, with grace in '88. I've never been ill. I never got sick. Recently I volunteered my body to NIH. I had to take control over this HIV status. I learned to let go of fear with each tube of blood, mri, pet scans, spinal fluid draws. I am alive.

Great article! I've had a similar experience living with HIV since the mid-80s. On the outside all appears great. I've been successful in my career and overcome both substance abuse and mental defect through the recovery process. Now in my mid 50s, I am now planning for retirement. Who would have thought that I'd live this long? Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for your blog. Having tested Poz nearly 30 years ago, I found it difficult to go to support groups & not feel sick. I also went through a 'walking dead' stage, and was surprised I was still alive 5+ years later, now almost 30 years.
