thanks for the comments everyone.Well one reason there is no NATIONAL AIDS MONTH is because there is no one willing to go to the front of the line to bare there soul like Susan K and another reason is we don't educate each other enough, and HIV/AIDS is 100% perventable. Just a suggestion its dangerous to do this but it is more insane to be willing to die without changing something or someones else life. Ask yourself these question? Would i sit in my chair when I need to be standing in line? Would I duck the cameras and mic when my voice needs to be heard? SO FAMILY LETS STOP TALKING AND START WALKING. HIT A SISTER UP I'M WILLING BUT NEED TO KNOW THAT THERE IS A SUPPORT TEAM BEHIND ME A MILLION PERCENT.

Hello. I was having this exact same conversation with my sister. Why isn't there an AIDS blitz like there is for Breast Cancer. My first thought was that stigma played a part. But, upon further discussion, it is quite possibly that Susan G. Komen's sister put a face to the epidemic. She attached an icon or sorts to the cause. With AIDS we don't have that; have not done that. And, then, I'm sure the stigma also plays a part. In my small effort, I make cards (Advocacy Cards) and one of those cards deals with; speaks to HIV/AIDS.

Dear Friends at POZ, According to statistics, a child is orphaned by the AIDS epidemic every 14 seconds. HIV/AIDS is a global health issue that often seems too overwhelming and impossible to fight. The February issue of Marie Claire (on newsstands January 13) features R& B diva Alicia Keys and her efforts to help those affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Alicia has co founded a humanitarian group with filmmaker and activist Leigh Blake called Keep a Child Alive, which helps build clinics and provide medicine for children and their families with HIV/AIDS across Africa. The group has saved an estimated 45,000 lives to date by providing antiretroviral drugs to people in need. By spreading awareness, you too can help those suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa. For more information check out the issue on newsstands! Best, Danielle

I can't believe there isn'' and HIV/AIDS awareness month. I always assumed that December was . You know what they say about assuming..LOL I came across your blog today while searching HIV blogs like my own. I am a Campaign Ambassador for Hope's Voice and I am a part of their Does HIV Look Like Me ? Campaign. I also just started my own website called POZIAM.com .I launched in on October 21, 2007. I welcome you to visit my site and take a look around. I myself have emailed many news teams about why coverage is limited to ONLY Dec 1. Thanks for making this blog . I found myself trapped in your words and wanting to read more. IN HOPES OF INSPIRING, Robert Breining www.poziam.com

There is still too much negativity associated with HIV/AIDS. Until we get Hollywood strongly supporting our cause we will never overcome this stigma nor will we ever see the support the "pink disease" sees. It's unfortunate because so many people are losing their lives needlessly.

Well I agree with all of you and I think I have one more thing to say. I really feel that most case workewrs are over burdened with cases so I want to leave them out. Yet I feel that the workers with in the hostpitals and all the workers who deal with aids each and every day need to help. I also feel that the reason ther e are those that do not help, is the fact they will get set aside just like we do. They will have their kids with no friend cause mommy works with HIV/AIDS people ir Daddy is a HIV/AIDS doctor and I do not want you to get infected. We need Global education. One standard for all education. I am not saying one system. I am saying one standard. Every one needs to learn what every one else is learning so we can work toward peace with out predjudice!!

If you would like some help making calls, let me know. I'm fairly good at the art of persuasion...I also happen to believe you are absolutely right about marketing for awareness. The Komen foundation has been brilliant. I think we can be even better.
