Shawn, nice wrestling analogies. I hope we do get wiser as a nation. That we learn that the best take down move is one that helps us move towards a future move that will pin the opposition. As one who spent months in Junior High in a neck brace due to trying to not be beaten in a wrestling match (the combination I got caught in was a chuicken wing half nelson) I know full well the foolish costs of trying to win at all costs when suckered. To me the fools game is to fall into the trap of the former Soviet Union, to permit ourselves to let fear drive our national decisions. The cold war arms race broke the former Soviet Union's economy as our continued excessive military expenditures will break ours. We need to wean ourselves from the military industrial complex for our jobs and technological innovations. Let other nations pay for their defense and we pay for ours, based upon ecconomic and social well being strengths. This will be a better way for us to enable others to step up to the plate and for us to have a more competitive playing field within the global economy. As a sector of spending military funding creates the fewest jobs per dollar spent and it is also more inflationary. We need neither higher unemployment nor an inflation factor added to our national debt. Just my ideas for a better way to fight the terrorism faced by our citizens daily of hunger, homelessness, unemployment, disease, addictions, dysfunctional families, ecological difficulties, ad nauseum. et. al. et. al. etc.
