Excellent post, Paul...I totally share your frustration talking with radicals, leftists, anarchists, etc. about science and medicine... -Liz

Another great post. Yes science is a method that has reaped enormous benefits from nature for Mankind. Occasionally these are misused / misunderstood and it's this presentational problem that science has to address. This manifests in HIV denial, scare mongering about genetically modified food, stem cells, and so on. It's my fear that the instinct of the good scientist to reveal the truth of nature and to apply these findings is not equal to their ability to present the ramifications of these data to Joe Public. As positive myself, I am ever grateful and hopeful to scientific advances but despair at the inability to promulgate these developments to the outside. Such ignorance about HIV and it's relegation to a long term chronic disease breeds HIV phobia, histeria and stigma. So I think science has a serious presentational problem, and this is highlighted in particular with HIV. Thanks again for the post. Michael.
