I was diagnosed positive in 1996. I am fortunate enough to have never had an oportunistic illness. I have also been diagnosed with HEP-c and went through a treatment of peg and rib to eliminate it but the treatment failed and i will have to repeat it again someday. I respond well to my meds and i am a full time employed biomedical technician (work on electronics in hospitals) this job puts the men and women who repair the equipment right in the line of exposure to both of these diseases. another infection that we need to look out for is MRSA. I have had this 8 times in my past few years and twice it placed me in the hospital. I have cleaned blood from instruments as well as many other bodily fluids and can tell you that the possibility of infection through saliva and the prosecution of such is a decision that hovers above fear and ignorance. The thought that when i talk to someone and they happen to be in the path of a tooth bubble that they could actually charge me with assault is frightening to say the least. It is clear to me that the police have no desire to help anyone today. If so they would have had this homeless guy hospitalized and saw to it that he received medical help. I do not even want to get into the jury.... People in America today enjoy the bliss of ignorance. The scary part is they do not try to educate themselves in such matters. They just keep their heads turned towards the sky and say they saw nothing or it doesnt effect them but there are millions of people in America living with this illness and they deseve to be treated as humans. They are still human. I live in Miami now and i moved here from Texas. I can tell you from experience this is not the first time this kind of injustice has occured; it wont be the last. Americans are being frightened into hatred and anger they are being lied to by government and mislead by media. No offence POZ. Half truths and full lies, silence and ignorance will destroy us all. Right now i am undetectable my count is higher than it has been in over 12 years but i am still POZ. the possibility of me spreading this virus in anyway is minimal to nonexistant. If current trends continue i can see them criminalizing HIV the same as they have DUI. By removing consttutional rights and allowing mechanical and electronic evidence to be presented in a court of LAW to convict you. Education of judges for ease of prosecution. This started with anger and fear and look where it has gotten us. In the future it is possible that instead of being diagnosed with HIV you are charged. Instead of being diagnosed an alcoholic you are charged as one and instead of helping you get treatment they have criminalized an illness and they put you in jail. Really scarry but .....
