This is shocking to hear, frankly. UHC just settled a class action lawsuit on this matter. If your insurance coverage is through, or administered by UHC, they are not allowed to force you to use a specialty pharmacy. I was forced into using OptumRX for two years. This change was a Godsend to me, and I now get my RXs filled locally instead of being forced to mailorder. More information is available at http://www.unitedhivsettlement.com/CaseInfo.aspx?pas=uhd You should not be required to be in the 'specialty' category.

Hello...I do not have this issue, but I understand. I go to my local drugstore chain (Rite Aid). I have been going there since 2006, and they all know my name and my needs. They go the extra mile for me no matter what it is. To have them taken from me would be devastating. It took years to form that relationship. I am 100 percent on your side. If u need my help or assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to call on me.

Hi, If you have UHC and their pharmacy benefit is through Optum Rx, you can opt out as long as your group is UHEALTH and sometimes for others as well. Simply Google UHC/Optum Rx mandatory mail order lawsuit to find the number to call as I don't have them handy at the moment. If they refuse, talk to a supervisor. If all fails, you can complain through the state of NY external appeals or the AG office. You may also contact a grassroots organization that can advise you on how to file a class action lawsuit if they find it meritable. UHC and Anthem have both been sued, and members won in their case. Aetna is now also being sued. Good luck, and go kick some insurance carrier ass!!!

You are being discriminated against because of an ADA defined disability. Perhaps a class action suit under the ADA will get their attention.
