March, 1996, Steve Schalchlin starts Living in the Bonus Round, one of the first HIV blogs (then called "online journals," since the term "blog" had yet to be invented) on the Internet. He started writing as a way to inform his family of his failing health -- and his openness drew the attention of droves of curious strangers. (He still blogs today!)
