November 20th is the 12th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, which honors the memories of people murdered because they were transgender.

The Human Rights Campaign put together this video for this year’s commemoration:

I am a transgender ally. I respect the strength of character transgender people possess that helps them overcome the societal pressure to conform, which is something all LGBT share.

LGBT people also have mutual health concerns. As with men who have sex with men, transgender people also are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS.

If one of us under the LGBT umbrella is attacked, we all are. At least, that’s what I believe.

Too often the individual communities under the LGBT umbrella don’t feel kinship, but when it comes to hate, we’re all family from the haters point of view, like it or not.
