Our friend from Guerneville, Ca. needs to come out of his "safe place" and do some research. I'm sure if Mark would look at other places than extreme left leaning periodicals, he might find the other side of the story. Alabama has registered more voters since ID Laws were passed. We bend over backwards to help people get documents, get their voter ID's and get to polling places.

Wow! As someone that has read your publication for years and has even quoted it to my Drs., I have to say you really got it wrong this time. As a Gay man living with HIV right in the middle of the South, voting here is easier than it has ever been. With free State ID's, vans going into every County and Town across the State, people have been turning out in record numbers. More so since the passage of those "Racist Voter ID" Laws. I suggest you come to the South and find out for yourself.

This article is clearly biased. We need voter ID laws to preserve the integrity of our electoral system. My state offers free ID services and even does so with mobile units. Voter fraud exists across the nation. Only US citizens should be allowed to vote. We must provide valid ID for many activities, such as buying a car, obtaining credit, purchasing tobacco/alcohol, boarding a flight etc. Is it discriminatory to demand ID for those activities? Break my argument.

I'm frankly saddened by the comments I see here so far. It's as though the GOP propaganda has spread far and wide. Has an election in US history ever been altered through in-person voter fraud? I've yet to see a documented case of that happening. Also, the writers of these laws sometimes have slipped up and frankly admitted the purpose of these laws, is to keep people they believe won't support their position from voting. This is Jim Crow dressed up in modern clothes.

This is ridiculous. Requirements for identification to vote do not restrict the voting rights of people with this disease or people at risk for it. I happen to agree with the law.

One of our most sacred civic duties is to vote for those who will represent us in government.Local, state and federal. We must therefore guard our right to be heard, this is how we are heard. When we vote, our vote tells what we want and like about the candidate or issue on the ballot. It would be so easy for the opposition to get people to vote for what they wish if there was no way to prove or certify those who are voting. To have to prove citizenship should not ever be a burden for anyone,

Why is it unfair to have to show you are a citizen of the US to vote. You are showing your liberal byes. I can't go to orher countries and vote in their elections. Why should someone who is not a US citizen have the right to control the outcome of the election? I have always had to show a photo ID to vote. And the day I don't is the day I stop voting.

America needs voter photo ID laws to prevent FRAUD....and yes it DOES exist....ID's will NOT inhibit voting rights...the science is settled..
