Strength In Numbers: A Week of Self-Defense


Upstander Workshop: Monday, March 27, 6-8 p.m. These workshops are designed to equip those facing hate and violence with de-escalation skills and basic self-defense techniques, empowering bystanders with the tools they need to help those facing harassment. Build mind/body awareness, awareness of gender and race issues when intervening and learn how individuals can become involved in a movement to end systemic hate and violence. Presented by the Center for Anti-Violence Education (CAE) Kali Self-Defense: Tuesday, March 28-Friday, March 31, 6-8 p.m. Strengthening the heart, body and mind. Gain practical responses to real world situations, and learn the art of “staying cool” in distressed situations. Learn and explore martial arts and concepts to promote self-protection, and identify what is, and is not, legally identified as self-defense. Presented by Martial Science Macto Bicalli (MSMB) Open to people 18 and older. Please wear loose fitting clothing. It is important to note that students are 100% in charge of their learning experience and may step out of activities at any time. Registration required. Limited number of slots per evening.
