Horizon Village is a residential rehabilitation campus for adults that provides opportunities for individuals to experience recovery from substance use while living in a rural, park-like setting. It is a convenient 25 - 30 minute ride from Buffalo and is located on 14 beautiful acres of land. The 4 building, 125 bed campus also includes recreational facilities such as a full-size gym, yoga and spinning room (which staff can use for free!), and an outpatient mental health facility.

Job Summary:

Horizon is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Assistant at our Horizon Village location in Sanborn, NY!

Behavioral Health Assistants are one of the first people that our new patients meet when they come to our campus and one of the last people they see before they leave.  Behavioral Health Assistants have an important role in our daily operations and play a huge part of the overall success of our patients and campus! With full training provided, they become part of a team that provides innovative, person-centered treatment designed to offer hope for individuals in recovery. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handles administrative and reception duties such as answering the phones, managing guests at the front door, sorting mail, filing, and distributing faxes
  • Breathalyses and searches patients for contraband upon admission or reentry into the building
  • Monitors medication administration - obtaining and documenting vital signs from patients including blood pressure and pulse
  • Completes rounds inside and outside grounds to ensure building and patient safety
  • Identifies patient behavioral concerns and appropriately reports them to a clinical staff member
  • Transports patients to attend AA & NA meetings, Department of Social Services appointments, shopping trips and also assists in picking up families for family visitation
  • Supervises wellness and family group activities
  • Processes admission and discharge paperwork
  • Participates in cross shift meetings to promote clear, concise reporting between shifts
  • Completes room searches and coordinates room changes
  • Supervises urine toxes

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or,
  • Associate’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in behavioral health field or,
  • High school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience in behavioral health setting or 6 years of intensive customer service experience
    • Intensive customer service is defined as positions directly involved in problem solving and conflict resolution, or in a sales capacity involving negotiation of products
