Job description:


Leading national HIV, hepatitis, and healthcare public policy, advocacy, research, and education organization is seeking a Health Policy Manager for its Washington DC office.


Successful applicant will:

• Help lead the Institute’s policy and advocacy efforts to ensure people living with HIV, those at a higher risk of HIV, and others with serious and chronic health conditions have access to quality and affordable health care and treatment, along with preventive services.
• Advocate for people with HIV and others with serious and chronic conditions before the Congress and the Executive agencies on care, treatment and preventive services, including Medicaid, Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, and the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.
• Conduct policy analysis of proposed regulations and legislation to determine their impact on patient access to care and medications.
• Conduct policy analysis on CDC HIV prevention, NIH AIDS Research, and sexual education programs, and advocate for responsible policies and programs.
• Participate in state health policy activities.
• Draft comment letters, press releases and other documents.
• Work with Deputy Executive Director and other policy staff to accomplish goals.
• Work with communications staff in order to amplify messaging through social media.
• Work in coalition with national partner organizations and key stakeholders in the HIV community and related healthcare groups.

Required traits: 

• Expertise in the federal legislative and regulatory processes.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Medicare, and the payer community.
• Strong interest in advancing responsible HIV and healthcare public policy.
• Master’s Degree in a related field or Juris Doctor, and at least 7-10 years of post-education related professional experience.
• Strong analytical, research, critical thinking, writing, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to demonstrate and maintain good relationships with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
• Demonstration of proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.
• Management and supervisory experience.
