About the Position

The HIV Peer Navigator Coordinator coordinates peer navigation services by managing contracts and by planning activities, quality improvement, and outreach services for Washington State’s HIV Peer Navigation Program. HIV peer navigators work with persons living with HIV to develop strategies to maintain or improve health and wellness needs and implement self-management skill-sets. Peer Navigators work with other health care and wellness providers to provide direct health system navigation, health advocacy, education, and linkage to relevant specialized health, social, and emotional well-being and wellness resources related to HIV. Peer navigators may provide outreach, linkage, and referral services.

This position provides administrative support and oversight of peer navigation services, conducts program planning, quality management, and provides related trainings, designing/updating resource materials, and developing and implementing policies and procedures. Administrative support and oversight of peer navigation services, involves working with HIV service providers, assisting with writing the annual funding application, and preparing reports. Program planning duties include facilitating community meetings, working with Special Emphasis Workgroups, and conducting needs assessments. Quality management and contract monitoring includes developing quality improvement goals and performance indicators and assuring providers are following program standards.

This position coordinates services that assure that persons living with HIV and persons at high risk connect with outpatient/ambulatory health services, support services, and medication assistance programs.

This is a permanent full-time Health Services Consultant 3 (HSC 3) position.  This recruitment may be used to fill other HSC 3 positions within the section.

What we’re looking for 
The ideal candidate will be proficient in engaging, supporting and mobilizing diverse communities, which includes persons living with HIV, communities of color, and communities of sexual minorities. The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate and work with Statewide HIV positive peer navigators to help people who are HIV positive engage, or re-engage, in medical care. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of, and empathy with, the experiences of people living with HIV/AIDS. 
 

And, have the following REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

(NOTE: Experience may have been gained concurrently.) 

  • Six (6) or more years of experience working within an HIV services program or similar setting.

            OR

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher; AND three (3) or more years of experience working within an HIV services program or similar setting.

AND

  • Demonstrated experience working with the HIV care system.
  • One (1) or more years (full-time equivalency) of professional level experience providing technical assistance in-person, by phone and computer.
  • One (1) or more years (full-time equivalency) working within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following:
    • Communicating technical information via oral presentations and written materials to individuals and audiences of different education levels and learning styles.
    • Using a computer including word processing, spreadsheets, email, PowerPoint and the Internet.

Preference may be given to candidate who have the following DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  (NOTE: Experience may have been gained concurrently.)

  • Demonstrated experience helping others apply for medication assistance programs.
  • Experience providing HIV care and/or prevention services at the state or local level.
  • Experience providing leadership at the state level about issues related to access to HIV care issues.
