Position Summary

As a member of the Leadership team, the HIV/STI Prevention Manager provides operational oversight to clients through the HIV/STI Prevention program and Wellness Clinic. This positions focus is on the linkage of clients to PrEP/nPEP appointments/walk-ins and anyone who is newly diagnosed while receiving a rapid HIV test to get the client engaged in Rapid Start protocol with our clinicians. This position oversees the Prevention Specialist team. This position is responsible for the creation, implementation and operations of the Prevention program and team that provides competent and confidential counseling and testing with high-risk individuals for HIV, Hepatitis C (HCV), Syphilis and other sexually transmitted infections (STI), where applicable. In addition, this position will provide program oversight in prevention education services, and outreach to individuals engaging in high-risk behaviors. The position demands a high level of cultural competency to the unique needs of transgender individuals and communities as well as the broader LGBTQIA+ community. A strong community relationship and knowledge of the area is required.  

Essential Functions

Program Oversight:

  • Direct oversight of the HIV/STI Prevention program to ensure delivery of confidential HIV & STI counseling, testing and referral (CTR), in accordance with state guidelines, with individuals engaging in high-risk behaviors. 
  • Lead in planning and delivery of sexual health initiatives and activities among diverse communities in accordance with the mission and goals of the Wellness Center. 
  • Engage, supervise, and develop a team of Prevention Specialists by providing direction, input, and feedback. 
  • Monitor program budgets and ensure expenditures are within program guidelines. 
  • Participate in external coalitions to facilitate community engagement, build organizational capacity, and meet community engagement goals. 
  • Ensure appropriate and accurate time tracking the Prevention team. 
  • Ensure all encounters and activities are recorded into all system databases and EMR within 24 hours of encounter. 
  • Ensure all testing information/requirements met in accordance with state policy (e.g., completion of appropriate testing forms, entering tests into web-based reporting system). 
  • Create, review, and approve educational materials and safer sex materials for the Prevention program and have available to persons engaging in high-risk behaviors. 
  • Represent the Wellness Clinic and Agency in local/national media and community events that promote the awareness and utilization of the SWC services. 
  • Provides initial and continuous training opportunities for staff to create a culture of open communication and harm reduction to reduce the spread of HIV and STI’s. 
  • Responsible for the monthly reporting to ensure timely and proper completion of all required documentation and reporting of contract deliverables. 
  • Ensure quality control measures are being met through daily testing and temperature logs and running controls for new test batches.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure that testing/office supplies are always ordered and stocked. 
  • Triage, refer and prioritize patients for linkage to care and treatment for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), STI treatment, and general wellness/primary care as identified through the HIV/STI Testing services.
