What you can expect:
An Employment Coordinator provides evidence-based employment development and employment services to youth participants (ages 12 to 24) through community-based activities, individual-level, and group-level programing at Howard Brown’s Broadway Youth Center (BYC). Additionally, an Employment Coordinator develops and supports the implementation of ongoing youth specific employment programs at the BYC.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Education
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of work experience in social service, workforce development, or a job placement setting is required.
- Experience working with youth, especially LGBTQ and street-based youth is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- This position requires work outside of normal working hours including some weekends and may be subject to change.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and establish rapport with youth
- Strong leadership skills and be ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of and ability to support harm reduction, trauma informed, anti-oppression, anti-violence approaches to care
- Knowledge of and ability to integrate harm reduction frameworks, trauma-healing care, restorative justice, and body positivity into daily practice for youth development work
- Ability to maintain the highest level of client confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to follow HIPAA regulations and performs duties according to approved policies and procedures relating to OSHA and Standard Precautions
- Ability to maintain knowledge on best practices of youth employment services and LGBTQ youth needs through continuing education workshops and trainings
- Knowledge of working with LGBTQ and street-based youth ages 12-24
- Ability to speak to and affect a wide variety of audiences related to the health, wellness. and development needs of the target population
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, education, or related field is preferred
- Bilingual – Spanish/English is preferred
