Recently my insurance provider (Kaiser Permanente) reclassified my commonly used HIV medication to a "specialty" drug. This means I can no longer get it in a 90 day supply. Now I must go each month to the pharmacy to get my medication. This to me is a form a discrimination, since it was always available at 90 days for the past 4 years. Kaiser is actively trying to restrict my ability to acquire medication.

In 2002 I was told by HIV Legal here that the DOT Medical Form is supposed to exempt HIV meds from being disclosed, and a new form made that clear. I have yet to see that appear on any DOT Medical form. No, they don’t ask if you have HIV but you are supposed to list “all medications”. A pre-employment DOT is often required, paid for by the Company at a facility of their choosing. If you say you take Biktarvey, which costs $3,200 a month, do you really think you are going to get that job?
