“Apathy Is Lethal,” a brave, new ad campaign from the UN Foundation, will try to prod yawning Yanks with the stat that the world’s 14 million AIDS orphans are “the equivalent of every child under 5 in America.” The spots, to debut this month on TV, radio and in print feature gorgeous shots of abandoned tykes in, er, Berlin. Moving? Of course. But with Africa home to the vast majority of AIDS orphans, did they have to use towheaded Aryans to pull our heartstrings?
