It’s great that your partner values fitness. Mild to moderate exercise has been shown to help immune function, but check with your physician first. Biking is a great activity. There are, however, several things to consider.

First, I would encourage you to start slowly and gradually increase your activity level. If your partner rides “a lot” it may take a while to build up your endurance.

If you are not used to riding, identify safer places to ride like parks or bike trails.

Check with local bike shops. Many offer free classes addressing form and safety.

If you have a bike already, have it tuned up and checked for safety. If you are looking for a bike, visit several bike shops, if possible, to decide what options best suit you.

Proper hydration and nutrition are important for all fitness activities. Always ride with water and pay attention to how your body feels.

And safety is very important, so please always wear a helmet and keep your phone and identification with you.
