Great interview! I can't wait to see the film. I'm just finishing David Healy's book, Pharmageddon, which corroborates and elaborates on many of the issues you bring up. The thing that I personally find so disturbing about today's world regarding HIV/AIDS (at least in North America) is the widespread, wholesale co-optation of once PHA-led organizations by governments and pharmaceutical companies (the doctors play along) and with that sell-out to the corporate agenda comes enormous pressure on PHAs to conform to and assimilate corporate culture ideologies and the various hypocrisies that direct government-led initiatives. I've thrown out all the garbage medications my ex-doctor had me on (like statins) and I'm now down to just the meds for HIV, which unlike most of the medications in the marketplace, actually work. It'll be interesting to see how government and big-pharma figure out how to sustain the illusion that they care about saving lives (i.e., drug-use 'guidelines,' etc.) when the reality is, at this point in time, the vast majority of persons with HIV worldwide will die miserable and lonely deaths because those of us who have the resources to help them care more about our own bank accounts than saving the lives of those 'others.'
