I was on Viread (TDF) for about a year after it came out. My doctor took me off when he saw signs in my lab test results that indicated that I might be experiencing kidney damage. I now have end-stage kidney disease and osteoporosis. I wonder if the Viread was a cause or contributing factor to these maladies.

Why would anyone change back when there are lots of better choices out there than any drug or drug formulation with tenofovir in it. Viread with tenofovir wrecked my kidneys and put me in stage 4 for kidney function. My kidneys have improved a little over the last couple of years, but the damage is permanent. It's just not worth the risk. Be smart, research your drugs and drug choices and side effects, talk to your doctor, and above all be empowered to make you own educated choices.
