"A belief that my goals and dreams were not to be achieved, instead deferred." Congratulations! I must ask though . . . What happens to a dream deferred?

You are inspirational. Well done! Education is not a black or white thing as you know. Its a person thing. And just think on this - your education is fresh and new. Its not 30 years old and forgotten. Best wishes to you. And yes its horrible to lose pets you love dearly. One day much more will be known about HIV and there will be no stigma. That will be when we know the truth. That will be when abusers know the truth too.

Congratulations on achieving your goal!! I want to share with you. I also graduated this year with a Masters in Healthcare Administration concentrating in Education. There is extreme isolation many African American gay and bisexual men experience and can result in the internalized depression of their sexual identity. As a long-term survivor, I too wanted to set an set an example. Through hard work, dedication and tenacity any real desire can be achieved.
